Innovative metal solutions for industries

Maisam Steel Mill is Afghanistan's first ISO-certified steel manufacturer. Since 2009 we have produced rebar, angles and T-bars to international standards from our plant in Pol-e-Charkhi, Kabul. We forge the certified steel that builds a nation — one beam, one bar, and one project at a time.

We're the future of the metallurgy industry

Established in 2009, Maisam Steel Mill became the first steel manufacturer in Afghanistan to operate to international IEC/ISO standards. From our plant at Pol-e-Charkhi, we produce certified rebar, angles and T-bars for the projects rebuilding the country.

Our purpose reaches beyond the mill floor — to build a domestic value chain, create skilled work, and set the regional benchmark for steel that lasts.

04Process

Check how our process is done

One integrated mill controls every stage in-house — a melt shop that turns scrap into billet, and a rolling mill that turns billet into certified steel. Follow both lines, one stage at a time.

Scrap to billet4 stages

InputRaw material and recovered scrap

  1. Stage 01

    Material selection

Raw material and recovered scrap are graded and weighed, then made up into a charge with the chemistry set for the heat that follows.

    OutputGraded charge

  2. Stage 02

    Melting

The charge is melted in a controlled electric furnace. Temperature and composition are held to specification before the heat is tapped.

    OutputMolten steel

  3. Stage 03

    Casting

Molten steel is continuously cast into billets of a consistent section — the uniform, defect-free stock every finished length is rolled from.

    OutputBillets

  4. Stage 04

    Quality control

Every heat is sampled and checked for chemistry and soundness. Billets pass to the rolling mill only once the heat clears.

Billet to dispatch4 stages

InputVerified billets from the melt shop

  1. Stage 01

    Rolling

Reheated billets are hot-rolled into rebar, angles and T-bars at precise tolerances, then stamped MSM so every length stays traceable.

    OutputRebar, angles, T-bars

  2. Stage 02

    Shipping

Rolled sections are cooled, cut to length and bundled by size and grade, then staged in the yard and loaded for transport.

    OutputBundled lengths

  3. Stage 03

    Quality control

Samples from every batch are lab-tested for yield, tensile strength and tolerance under ISO 9001 before the batch is cleared.

    OutputCertified batch

  4. Stage 04

    Dispatch

Cleared batches leave the mill with their test certificate and MSM stamp, so what arrives on site can be traced back to the heat it came from.

05Quality

Exceptional quality that can't be beaten

Under our ISO 9001 quality system, every batch is tested for tensile strength, dimensional tolerance and surface quality. These aren't certificates on a wall — they are a promise in the steel, accredited and verifiable.

06Quality & testing

Rigorously tested, globally trusted

Every batch is verified in our in-house laboratory — installed under the USAID-ABADE programme alongside our continuous-casting line — against international standards before it ships.

Stage 01

Tensile test

Yield and tensile strength verified to ASTM A615 grade requirements (GR60 / GR75) — proving every bar holds its rated load.

Bend test
Stage 02

Bend test

Cold-bend ductility testing confirms the steel flexes without cracking and performs under real structural stress.
